Official release

Today we are happy to announce the game is to be officially released.

All progress from the testserver has been reset.
You can login using your original account from the testing period or make a new account.

Players who participated in the testserver can receive reward items at Levels 50 and 100. Please contact the GM.

Later on we will add the website and market. You can buy market items for now by following the instructions here.

Over the course of the following weeks the game will be patched multiple times to add missing features:

- Improved lair rewards
- Improved blue drops
- Blue bird item
- Armour gender swap item

Note:

- Please read the game rules before playing.
- The game is always subject to rebalancing where needed.

Testserver closing

The testserver will close on Monday 24 December.
We will announce it ingame prior to shutting down.

The official release is scheduled to take place soon.
More information will be provided before the game will go live.

Monster loot rarity and difficulty of obtaining rare items

We tested the original looting settings and have come to the conclusion that they're not viable for the game.
With these settings it would be almost impossible to get good items from the high level monsters in a reasonable time (a few months).

So the settings will be balanced again.

Monster drops rebalancing.

Hello,

We will rebalance the monster drops again for the official release.

We tested the original settings and there seem to be a few issues.

These will be corrected when rebalancing is finished.

We will revert the settings in the testserver for now.

Apply the patch by saving it to the directory you installed the game client and run the patch.



Fixes:

- Fixed HP bar size for other players/monsters.


Changes/Rebalance

- Reduced monster damage by 25% for testing.
- Changed monster drops to original settings.

Game rebalancing

Hello everyone,

We have received feedback regarding imbalances for various classes.
Various feedback was submitted:


  • Some Slayer classes having a hard time surviving against monsters
  • Melee vampires being too weak due to lack of AoE skills unlike magic vampires
  • Melee vampires lack of a distant attack skill or chase enemy skill (Bloody Zenith/Set Afire/Bat Storm?)
  • Gunners getting hit often by melee monsters despite high defense
We want to address these imbalances but first we want to hear from you how we can best resolve these issues.

Should we rebalance the game, or make a new seperate game version? This is very important.
The old DarkEden is very nice, but it's arguably unbalanced overall. We can modify the current game version or make a new version.

Should we do simple rebalancing (increase/decrease damage/HP/etc..), or should we add some of the missing skills?

Should we give melee vampires better AoE ability?

Should we add some skills for melee vampires that can help them fight against running/fleeing enemies? (A chase skill similar to Sword class 'Flash Sliding' skill and Blade class 'Shadow Walk' skill, or a melee version of paralyze (Demon Chain))

Remember to report bugs and game crashes!

Please report any bugs you find here in the comments, on Facebook or on the Discord channel.

When reporting game crash try to be as detailed as possible.

Current map and location
Were there monsters nearby?
Were there other players nearby?
Did you mouse hover over any monsters or other players just before the crash?
Did you mouse hover over any items?


Alternatively you can use screen capturing software and record the Darkeden client when you are playing the game.
You can save the recording and clip out the relevant part (the moment the client crashed) and send it to us.

We will reward the most useful bug reports by handing out 3 day premium cards and luck hourglass at official release.

New testserver client download

Download the new client here.

The new testserver will run until official server releases later this month.

We may update the testserver over time for bug fixes or testing.

NOTE: The testserver may contain features that are not present in the official server later.

Patches and bugfixes:

- Fixed an issue with guild introduction length.

- The exp and level for the Spirit Guard skill are now updated properly when using the skill.

- HP is now updated properly when using the Meteor Strike skill with HPsteal active.

- HP/MP are now updated properly when using the following skills with HPsteal/MPsteal:
    - Spirit Guard
    - Wide Lightning
    - Power of Land

- Fixed an issue with Holyland castle status icon display during Race War/Castle War.

- Poison mesh will now correctly give exp if your target dies.
